About Silver Tiaras Designer and Jeweller Jane Webb is a jewellery designer and silversmith who works mainly in silver. Each piece of jewellery shown on this website has been designed and created by Jane from her workshop in Lincolnshire. Jane first started making jewellery over 15 years ago at night school at Bradford Art College, from making her first ring in copper she knew this is what she wanted to do and so went on to study jewellery at Leeds University where she was lucky enough to be tutored by Roger Barnes. Jane went on to work within another jeweller's workshop but wanted the freedom to create her own designs so launched her own jewellery website on www.silverwebjewellery.co.uk. Constantly inspired by her gorgeous garden, Jane designed bridal jewellery incorporating nature's smooth lines but believed that the bridal jewellery market was saturated so didn't make any of the pieces! After a few friends looked through the designs they persuaded Jane to have a rethink. "My friends said that the bridal jewellery designs were different from anything else available. I thought they were just being kind but I did some research and decided there wasn't a great deal of alternative to the twisted wire and crystal jewellery. Although there appeared to be a wide choice of jewellery it seemed to be a version of the same theme. I wanted to offer quality jewellery at an affordable price and in precious metal rather than all the plated jewellery which is widely available. A bride has been dreaming about her wedding and knows exactly what she wants but if it isn't out there she has to compromise." Jane doesn't agree with compromising on something so important. "The wrong bridal jewellery can cheapen an outfit. Jewellery is the finishing touch to your look and should be chosen with as much care as the dress itself." As a result of this ethos Silver Tiaras was born. Silver Tiaras offers brides beautiful handcrafted sterling silver tiaras, matching jewellery, cufflinks and hair accessories using only the finest materials. Each piece of jewellery is hallmarked with Jane's makers mark and the London Assay Office quality stamps. Making jewellery is only the start as it goes on to be handled, to be worn, to be enjoyed, to age, eventually to be passed on. Jane's main artistic influences: René Lalique, Carl Fabergé, Gustav Klimt, Alphonse Mucha, Georges Fouquet. |
