| I um'd and ah'd about writing about my beginning a diet
but I thought that maybe writing about it would be theraputic - maybe
boring, but theraputic. I know it seems that every person and their
dog is on a diet but I need to lose some serious weight! We are talking
halving the weight I am now. Yikes! So today I went to my first LighterLife
meeting. I went for an introduction meeting a couple of weeks ago
and tomorrow I start the diet proper! No food just shakes and bars.
They told us that we would feel awful for the first 3 days so fingers
crossed I don't feel too bad. I will let you know. |
| I must wax lyrical about on of our local Churches. I have been
walking with the boys every morning up near St Andrews Church and
it is stunning. Nearby used to be an Abbey before good old King
Henry decided to demolish it. Apparently King Edward killed the
King of Wales and kidnapped his 18 month daughter and she was brought
to the Abbey and raised as a nun. Today a group of people from Wales
came to see the site and they sang in front of the memorial stone
and laid out the Welsh flag - what a way to start the day! The views
are spectacular and they have given me some inspiration for some
new jewellery. I will keep you updated! Well off to make a lily
ring - no rest for the wicked!

The boys love paddling in the stream - especially in this glorious
weather we have been having.

| Had a fab day off yesterday. The sun was so warm we decided
to take our dogs, or as I call them 'the boys', to Sutton beach.
Surprisingly it was quite deserted which was great for us! The boys
chased ball and splashed around in the sea and we finished the day
with an ice cream - the first one they have had. Ah bliss!!!!!!!!!!!
Made my yearning to live by the sea intensify. The number of shells
there are at Sutton is amazing I selected a few and added them to
my collection. I have a vision of a tiara made with real shells
which will be a one off and I will aim to make in the summer. Have
a couple more commissions to make first!
I made an ivy tiara with hairgrips and earrings to match for a
theatre costume designer in the USA. I am over-the-moon with them
and my Mum (oh she of few compliments) says it's the best I have
ever made. The lump from falling down with surprise is starting
to go down a bit! No pictures yet - as the bride-to-be hasn't seen
it!! |
| I know the title is a bit corny but hey I couldn't resist! Ah
Donny Osmond YUM! Anyway enough about my youth, I have finished
the poppy tiara
to add to my collection. I studied the poppies in my garden and
played around with the design as I wanted to give the petals the
delicacy and movement of the real thing. I am so-o-o-o-o pleased
with it, hope you like it too!

| Ok, OK, I know I promised to keep up with
my blog - and failed miserably. Excuses, I have many, any that are
good enough - no!!! My big news is that I made a different tiara
for the Rose Collection.
I have made the design very contemporary as I decided
the previous design needed updating. I have interspersed the roses
with wavy lines of silver wire which I flattened slightly. A couple
of people have tried it on who had wavy hair and it look great.
I am really pleased with the overall look of the tiara.

I was over the moon when the Rose
Tiara was chosen by the Newark Advertiser to crown
their Bride of the Year at a competition held on
6th April 2008 at Southwell Racecourse. Amanda Aitchison
was crowned with our Rose
Tiara and our congratulations and best wishes go to
Amanda and her husband-to-be, Christopher. We are not sure of the
jaunty angle for the tiara but who are we to judge!! |
| Went to see Sweeney Todd, with the oh so gorgeous, Johnny Depp -
yum! It was a fantastic film, loved it, the blood was so theatrically
red it didn't turn your stomach and looked so amazing against the
black and white of the characters, masterpiece. Go see! |
| Finally I have put the finishing touches
to my new website. What a nightmare!! I have no experience or training
in creating websites and so everything has taken ages but on the
plus side I have been learning every step of the way!
I am really thrilled with the look and am now at the
point where I need to upload to go live - a bit scary I don't mind
telling you. I had just put the finishing line on the inspiration
page when I wrote over it by mistake - a few chosen words later
and I sat down to rewrite - so if there are any spelling mistake
please forgive me!
Finished the poppy
tiara this week and I am thrilled with it. Have started to redesign
and make the rose tiara,
the first one wasn't as contemporary as I wanted, on paper it looked
great but in reality it looked like it had been done before - and
we don't want that! |
