We want you to enjoy your jewellery for many years to come and so would like to give you a few tips on caring for your jewellery. If you want to wrap your jewellery please use acid free tissue paper or even better leave it in the box it came in.

Hairspray and perfume can damage your jewellery so please use them and allow them to dry before putting on your jewellery. If you have chosen a tiara remember to ask your hairdresser to use the hairspray before fitting your tiara, if this isn't possible please cover the tiara with something before spraying!

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver oxidises naturally over time when exposed to the air giving an antiqued look to the piece, which many people like. However, if you don't, you can maintain the shine by regularly using a silver cloth. We recommend the Goddards range.

Gemstones

If your jewellery is set with stones take extra care when cleaning. A cheap soft toothbrush can be used with warm soapy water to clean behind the stone. You will be amazed how much more light will be reflected when the stone is clean!

Pearls

Pearls can lose their lustre, extend their life by taking care of them. Pearls can be scratched easily, they are best stored away from other jewellery. Please do not store them in plastic bags. To clean your pearls just wipe them with a damp cloth. When you take off your pearls just give them a quick wipe with a soft damp cloth before putting them away to remove any residue.

In the unlikely event your jewellery gets damaged remember we will repair it at any time free of charge.  Just send it to us by Royal Mail's Special Delivery service, carefully packaged and insured to the correct amount.

Photographs

Speaking from personal experience we would recommend taking pictures of any jewellery you have.  Then if it is lost or stolen you have a record of every piece.  When you purchase jewellery from us just ask and we will be happy to forward a photograph to you for this purpose.
